Batata Harra aka Spicy Potatoes
Updated: Feb 22, 2021

Batata Harra originated in the Levant region of the Middle East and they are such a delicious part of our cuisine. They are so easy to make, yet packed full of flavor. You can eat them with a fork or use pita bread. Don’t make fun, but I do use pita bread sometimes then dip it in hummus for a triple kick of flavor. Anyways, let’s get to it, you don’t want to miss this one!
Yields: 2
Prep time: 20 minutes
Total time: 1 hour
This recipe is dairy free, gluten free, vegetarian, and vegan.
Ingredients:
1. 3 russet potatoes
2. Arugula (optional but tastes delicious as a base)
3. Extra virgin olive oil
4. 2 minced cloves of garlic
5. Salt
6. Black pepper, garlic powder, paprika, Aleppo pepper, red pepper flakes, cayenne pepper, cumin
7. ½ lemon
Instructions:
1. First, preheat your oven to 400.
2. Next, grab your potatoes, wash them, and then peel the skin off.
3. Chop them into cubes.
4. Place them onto a baking pan.
5. Drizzle on 1-2 TBSPs of olive oil.
6. Next, salt to your liking.
7. Now, add on 1 TSP of black pepper, 1 ½ TSP of garlic powder, 1-2 TSP of paprika, ½ TSP of Aleppo pepper, a ¼ TSP of red pepper flakes, ½ TSP of cayenne pepper, 1-2 TSPs of cumin. Mix well.
8. Drizzle on ½ lemon and add the minced garlic cloves.
9. Bake in the oven for 35-40 minutes, you want them to be crunchy.
10. Taste test at 25-30 minutes in to see if it needs more salt or spice.
11. Take them out once they’re done and add them onto a bed of arugula.
12. Enjoy!
